thankfully with no broken bones. Please continue to pray
for his full recovery and for the pain he has been experiencing.

associated with his prostrate cancer. Please continue to
pray for his relief.

JIM LICHTENSTEIN
UPDATE:
Jim is recovering very well at home and would like to
thank everyone for their calls, cards, and prayers. The
mass removed was not cancerous. Please continue to pray for his
complete recovery. Jim
Lichtenstein is in Erlanger Hospital in Room 8119.
What started out as a routine Colonoscopy on Friday, August 1st
turned into Emergency Surgery after his colon was perforated
during the procedure. The doctor's also found a mass that
was removed along with his colon. He is recovering, but still needs our prayers for his complete healing and
speedy recovery as he is not out of the woods yet and has a long
road ahead.

James Johnson,
of the
Gadsden congregation,
is in the final stages of advanced Alzheimer Disease and Hospice
says it is just a matter of time (maybe a few days) before his
death. He is on oxygen, is comatose and has had very little
nourishment. Your continued prayers that his suffering be
shortened would be greatly appreciated.
Please pray for comfort and encouragement for his wife Sylvia,
and his daughters, Elaine (McKinney) and Annette (Epperson) as
well as the rest of their family during this difficult time.

Please pray for her complete healing.
MAY 24TH
JOAN SMITH
Joan Smith
was reemitted to the Huntsville Hospital last Sunday (May 18th)
with hemorrhaging of the brain and blood clots on the lungs.
The doctors are not able to use blood thinners for the blood
clots because of the brain hemorrhage. Joan is in room 728 and
requests our prayers for her situation. She is trusting in God
for healing.
APRIL 16TH
BELLE DOUGLAS
UPDATE
May 24: Belle
is home and continues to recover from her recent heart surgery.
Please keep her in your prayers for her complete healing.
UPDATE
April 22:
Belle
is recovering from open heart surgery, a valve replacement and
bypass. Belle looked good and her coloring was good. She laughed
a lot, had her old humor and was very responsive. We were
gratified to see how well she was doing. She presently is not
in a lot of pain – she is still receiving a lot of pain
medication. Her kidneys are doing well and her bladder infection
has virtually disappeared. The doctors have mentioned the
possibility of a pacemaker. Belle does not want to have a
pacemaker and has requested that we pray about this. She may be
moved out of the SICU tomorrow, but that will be decided
tomorrow. She has gotten up and sat in a chair, but has not
begun to walk yet.
Belle
expressed to us several times how much she loves each one of you
and that the church is her family. She appreciates everyone’s
prayers and knows that all of you have been praying for her and
asked us to tell everyone that she said hello.
It was so very encouraging to us to see Belle and see how well
she looked.
Belle
Douglas has been taken to Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.
Her condition has not improved greatly with the pneumonia. She
had angioplasty today to determine if anything is wrong with her
heart. Please continue to pray for her comfort and her
complete healing.
JOAN SMITH
UPDATE
April 22:
Mrs. Joan Smith is doing much better. She has been moved out of
the Huntsville Hospital ICU and is now in
a progressive care room. Her blood sugar has stabilized; her
electrolytes are back to normal, her speaking is much stronger,
and is eating mashed foods and thickened liquids. She is still
a little incoherent but recovering incredibly well. The family
again wants to thank everyone for the prayers and concerns.
Please continue to pray for her heart situation (she has
congestive heart failure, the right coronary artery is blocked
and the left side of her heart only functions at 10%) and
recovery from the stroke.
At about 8:00
PM Tuesday, April 15th, Joan Smith started slurring her
words and became limp. She was rushed to the Ft. Payne Hospital
in an ambulance. It was determined that she had a stroke that
was caused by a blood clot that had moved to her brain. She was
given a high-risk treatment (a powerful blood thinner) and at
about 10:30 PM was flown via helicopter to Huntsville Hospital.
She is currently in Room 13 of the NICU. The medical staff said
that her brain was starting to swell. The family requests your
prayers for God's grace and intervention in her recovery.
APRIL 12TH
PEGGY DALE
UPDATE April 13:
Peggy Dale was released from the hospital on April 13th!
Wow-she has had an amazing recovery. She should be up and about
in a few weeks. Thanks to everyone for their prayers.
Peggy Dale had to have emergency surgery on April 8th at
Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. They re-sectioned her bowel
and removed her appendix. They explained her colon became
twisted and at risk of leaking into her cavity creating sepsis
and performed emergency surgery last night to avert the risk
which they deemed inevitable. Please pray for her recovery and
well being. Also for her poor husband BJ and son Tim Shaw.
MARCH 25TH
JIM RICKARD

Jim Rickard
passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008. The funeral is planned
for 3:00 pm, Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the North Chapel of
Chattanooga Funeral Home on 5401 Hwy 153 in Hixson, TN.
Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Please
continue to pray for comfort and encouragement for his wife
Jean, children Sherry, Tim and Mark and the rest of the family
during this difficult time. He was a kind gentleman and
will be missed by all who knew him.
FEBRUARY 9TH
TIM SHAW
UPDATE March
22:
The
surgeon at the Vanderbilt Surgery Center had me admitted to the
Vanderbilt hospital today upon examination. Much to my dismay,
this was the first date I could get for an examination following
the February TN BAR Exam. It is reported that I'll be here for
a couple of weeks and I'm not certain when the surgery will be
scheduled. For now, they are providing IV fluids to include
saline, total parental nutrition (or IV nutrition/food
substitute or TPN), and IV antibiotics with the corrective
surgery to follow improvement. I may be here for as many as
four weeks if the surgery is not conducted in the next few
days. The TPN is required for about 11-14 days following a
bowel resection and I will be allowed to go home only after I
can eat and have regular bowel movement again. I've lost 30 lbs
in the last 30 days due to much fasting to avoid the
consequences of eating.
After
having consultation today with the surgeon including the subject
of survival rate, prayers for my well being are requested. I've
sought healing during these last eight months since the surgery
but that apparently is not possible with the mesh that was
installed and the resulting fistula. This surgeon is of the
same opinion as those in Houston were however, that much healing
is necessary before surgery is appropriate; and apparently the
best method is the TPN with the antibiotics.
I remain optimistic and hopeful, believing in a successful
recovery; but I believe that I should look to our Father for
healing and to our elders for prayers to Him.
Tim Shaw
continues to struggle with the infection from his hernia surgery
from last year and and the doctor's will be installing a pic
line for antibiotics. Please continue to pray for his
complete recovery.
RYAN LEIBY
UPDATE March 22:
Surgery went without complications. All went as well as the
surgeon had hoped. Our immediate prayers are now directed
towards no onset of infection at the surgery site as well as the
hip where the bone graft was taken from. And of course that
Ryan's pain be minimized. He is in a great deal of pain right
now and very cranky as you can imagine. He is complaining more
about his hip then his leg, which from what I understand is
normal
JANUARY 24TH
TED DOSS

resurrection from the dead. At that time God will give him a
glorified spirit body that will never decay. The Memorial

comfort and encouragement for his wife Roxie and his family
during this difficult time. He will certainly be missed by
all who knew him.

sure if they will go this route. Please pray for him and his family for strength and peace
during this time.
AUGUST 22ND
BERTHA ASHLEY
Bertha
Ashley went to the ER this week with stomach pains and had
to have her gallbladder removed. She has been in the
DeKalb Regional Medical Center in Ft. Payne, Alabama.
Please continue to pray for her complete healing and recovery.
JULY 17th
NAOMI JEWEL WRAY
Naomi Jewel Wray,
mother of Angela Beam, died Monday evening around
6:30 PM EDT. The visitation is Wednesday night and the
funeral is Thursday afternoon, July 19th, both at
Crowell Brothers, Peachtree Chapel on Peachtree
Industrial Blvd in Atlanta, GA.
Mrs. Wray had suffered for years with
Alzheimer's and had deteriorated to a degree
that it's a type of relief and blessing that she
has gone to sleep and is awaiting the
Resurrection; she was a long time member of
God's Church. Angela is taking it well, but,
obviously, no matter the circumstances, it's
still difficult. Thanks for your prayers.
APRIL 28th
RAYMOND EPPERSON
UPDATE MAY
3RD: Raymond and Annette
were able to return home on Thursday, May 3rd. They had a very
good trip home with no problems. Raymond is still
experiencing a little nausea, pain in his chest and leg and is
very weak. Please continue to pray for his complete and
full recovery. They appreciate everyone's concern and prayers
Raymond
had a quadruple bypass on Thursday, April 26th at the Baptist
Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He is now recovering in a
private room and hopes to come home sometime next week. He
has been sitting up for a couple of hours at a time and the
doctors are doing a good job with managing his pain. It
will take him quite a few weeks before he will be back to
himself again. Please continue to keep Raymond, Annette, Amber
and Emily in your prayers during this time of recovery.
They
wanted all to know of their appreciation for everyone’s
prayers and concerns for them. They can tell that God has
intervened and helped them emotionally and in many other
ways.
APRIL 2nd
DAVE MINK
The doctor
who ordered the MRI for my vision problem sent me to a
neurologist yesterday. He is convinced that the problem is a
result of one of several head injuries probably one where I
hit the top of my head and jammed my neck downward and most
likely stretched and injured the nerve causing a Fourth
cranial nerve palsy. The good news he feels that it should
resolve itself on it's own. The bad news it could take up to
a year. If after 8-12 months there is no improvement I may
have to resort to special lenses on my glasses. For now I
will be wearing a patch over one eye or the other to
eliminate the double vision and alternating eyes
periodically so as not to weaken one more than the other. He
feels if we go to a corrective lens at this time it may
weaken the nerve to the point of hindering any recovery.
Your continued prayers that this problem will quickly
resolve are appreciated.
MARCH 24th
CHARLES SHANNON
Charles Shannon
continues to experience a lot
of problems with his chemotherapy treatments. Recently he
has broken out into a bad rash and his immune system is very
low. The doctor has advised him to stay away from
people. He would like to be able to come to Passover. Please
pray for his complete healing especially from the rash and low
immunity.
MARCH 12th
JANE BARRETT
UPDATE MARCH
24th: Jane is
scheduled to be released from Health South and go home on March
28th. Thanks so much for your prayers. She is doing much better.
Continue to pray for her complete healing.
UPDATE MARCH
16th:
Jane was moved to Health South on
McCallie Avenue and is in Room 201.
She will undergo rehabilitation there for the next two weeks.
Please continue to pray for her complete recovery.
UPDATE MARCH 14th:
Jane
is doing better today – she is able to touch her nose
with her left hand. She can not bear weight on her left
leg yet. Apparently there is some damage in the back of
the brain – it has affected her vision and sight on the
left side. The doctor stated that she did not have a
severe stroke, but she did not have a light stroke
either. They believe that she will make a full
recovery.
They
are evaluating Jane to see if the stroke was due to a
blood clot, hemorrhage or some other cause. The doctors
have not determined that yet. Your continual prayers
are needed.
Jane
Barrett was admitted to Memorial Hospital downtown last
night. She is about the same as last night with the
symptoms of her stroke. She still has limited mobility with
her left leg and left arm. She is able to lift both, but
not normal. She had a fairly good night’s rest, but as you
know it is difficult to sleep in a hospital. She has had
couple of test this morning and has one scheduled this
afternoon. She will know more about her condition when the
test results come back. Jane expressed her appreciation for
everyone’s calls, prayers and concern.
FEBRUARY 10th
STEVE PENNEY
UPDATE:
March 24th: Steve lung
has re-inflated and although he still has a "dead spot" is doing
much better. Please continue to pray for his situation and for
the health of him and his family.
UPDATE March
1st:
Steve is doing much better but
still suffers from the collapsed lung and will have to take it
easy for the next few months. Please continue to keep him and
his family in your prayers.
Steve Penney
was admitted to the hospital last week in considerable pain. The
doctor’s first thought it was pneumonia. The doctor finally
came in and indicated that Steve should not be experiencing the
level of pain that he is with pneumonia. He also had an
opportunity to evaluate his blood work and order a couple of
more pictures of the lungs. The doctor now believes that Steve
has blood clots in his lungs. His left lung is partially
collapsed and a small part is dead. They have started Steve on
Heparin and Tuesday was to begin giving him Coumadin. Steve is
still in the hospital on Thursday – the doctors are still trying
to regulate the Coumadin. The doctors are concerned that Steve
will create blood clots until the Coumadin thins his blood
sufficiently. Steve and family appreciate all the calls,
visits, cards and prayers for his health.
DECEMBER 24TH
AL BETCHER
Al Betcher,
93, died at approximately 10:50 a.m. Sunday, December 24th - at
the Life Care Center in Athens, TN. Al’s daughter, Linda, was
able to come in last night at midnight to see her dad. Iva
stayed with Al all night. Please pray for Iva’s and the
families’ comfort and encouragement. Graveside services will be
conducted at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 pm on
December 29, 2006.
DECEMBER 15TH
AL BETCHER
Al
Betcher is in Sky Ridge Medical Center (the old Bradley
Memorial Hospital) in room 403 with congestive heart
failure. He apparently also had a heart attack. He was
admitted late yesterday. He had a lot of fluid that had
accumulated in his abdomen and that has been taken care of.
Al is still suffering from sinus infections and coughs a
lot.
Please remember Al and Iva in your prayers.
CHARLES SHANNON
UPDATE:
Mr. Shannon continues to take chemotherapy treatments and
his PSA numbers have dropped. The chemo weakens him
considerably though, so keep him and his wife Janie, who
suffers from heart problems, in your prayers.
Mr.
Charles Shannon
was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday the 13th. He
is doing better today – his blood count has leveled out, he
feels stronger and he is not passing blood at this time. He
mentioned that they really appreciate everyone’s prayers and
concerns. Please continue to remember both Charles and Janie
in your prayers.
KEN
CASS
UPDATE:
Ken still has a problem with keeping food down and but has
faith that God will heal him. Continue to remember him
and his family in your prayers for his complete healing.
Mr.
Ken Cass has lost a lot of weight - 40 or 50
pounds and has been in a lot of pain in his intestines or
stomach. He has not been able to eat much solid foods. He
had a colonoscopy on Tuesday and his colon seems okay.
Prior to the colonoscopy the doctors thought that he might
have scar tissue blocking the entrance between the large and
small intestines. This area was operated on in the past.
On Friday Ken was due to take a full body scan to see if the
doctors could detect the source of his problem. However, he
was not able to take the scan because of equipment failure.
Please remember Ken and Roxie in your prayers. Ken is very
weak and in pain sporadically.
SEPTEMBER 1ST
PEGGY DALE
Tim Shaw’s Mother, Peggy Dale
will be having an angioplasty Wednesday, September 6th,
to check the arteries in her legs and she is concerned about
this procedure. Please pray for her peace of mind and that all
will go well with no complications or problems.
AUGUST 10TH
ANGELA BEAM
UPDATE:
Angela's
surgery went very
well without any complications. Thank you for your continued
prayers for her recovery.
Angela Beam
was recently
diagnosed with uterine cancer. It appears to be in the earlier
stages and confined to the uterus. Surgery will be scheduled
shortly at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Rick and Angela
would very much appreciate your prayers on her behalf. Thank
you for your love and concern.
AUGUST 8TH
MYLES PENNEY
Myles'
surgery went great. He is feeling as good as can be expected.
The doctor said that his adenoids were a little inflamed, but
his tonsils definitely needed to come out. The right tonsil was
abscessed and he said that when he took it out a lot of puss and
bacteria came with it. When it gets to that stage the bacteria
lies dormant inside the tonsil and the antibiotics don't do a
thing for it and it will continue to reappear with the strep
over and over again. So it was a good thing. He will be down
for about a week and will be unable to play, run, or ride bikes,
anything of fun for 3 weeks! So, with that in
mind and the fact that he is an active little boy please pray
for him (and me). Thank you for all your prayers and calls.
JUNE 16TH
BERTHA ASHLEY
Bertha
Ashley
was checked into the hospital this week to evaluate her swollen
leg and foot. Bertha fell on the Day of Pentecost and injured
her leg. The doctor determined that she did not have any blood
clots and released her. She is presently at home and must keep
her leg elevated. The leg is doing better. The main problem
she has had since coming home is a reaction to some of her
medication. Continue to keep Bertha in your prayers.
MAY 25TH
OKEMAH EPPERSON
Raymond’s mom,
Okemah Epperson, died Thursday, May 25th of a
massive heart attack. Okemah was only 68 years old and she and
her husband Ray had been married for 50 years. Raymond, Annette
and family are leaving for Arkansas this morning to be with his
dad and to attend the funeral. Please remember the Epperson
family in your prayers as they travel and for their comfort and
strength.
MAY 15TH
CHARLES SHANNON
UPDATE:
Mr. Shannon's last PSA number was up to 96 after recent
tests in July. Please continue to pray.
Charles
Shannon tripped and fell in his carport on Monday and bruised
his face badly and sprained his wrist. While at the
doctor's office he had another PSA test ran. The numbers are up
to 48 now, twice has high as the last test. He will soon
have to decide if he wants to do another round of chemotherapy.
Please pray for his decision and for his ultimate healing.
JANIE SHANNON
Janie Shannon had cataract
surgery on Wednesday, May 17th on her left eye. All
went well with the surgery. Thank you for your prayers.
MAY 5TH
SHANE HANEY
Shane Haney had an MRI exam
on Friday, April 28th. His pediatrician is Dr. Robert
Wood. Dr. Wood called yesterday morning and said that premature
babies are very susceptible to a certain area of the brain
having some bleeding, especially when they are laid up sick in
the NICU for some time. Although Shane did not have any
bleeding, he did have (on this certain area of the brain) a lack
of blood flow for some period of time (again, just in this one
area). This has caused a condition known as Spastic Diplegia,
which has resulted in overactive muscles in the legs, but
with a lack of control and tone. This is what Dr. Wood probably
suspected because of Shane not trying to sit up or pull to
stand. Now, Dr. Wood also warned me that we may hear from
someone, whether it be the Pediatric Neurologist’s office, the
Physical Therapy area (from here on out I’ll refer to as PT), or
T.E.I.S. (TN Early Intervention System), the term Cerebral
Palsy. Cerebral Palsy is an umbrella condition with a whole lot
of things that could fall under it and a very broad spectrum of
patients from very mild symptoms to others who may be in very
bad shape, such as no control of speech, drooling, no control of
any muscles, etc. He told me that Cerebral Palsy (from here on
out I’ll refer to it as CP) is not a good term to describe
Shane. The term would be Spastic Diplegia (everything you look
at on the internet for Spastic Diplegia is also going to talk
about CP, so I wanted to warn you about that). Dr. Wood said
that it would be a mistake to try to determine an outcome at
this time, we need to be very optimistic that everything will
work out fine and he will be able to walk and run just fine. I
brought up to Dr. Wood that when we stand Shane up in our lap
and also when he is in the “Johnny Jump” that hangs in the
doorway (a type of chair/swing which has a spring on it where he
can bounce up and down), he has very strong legs and just
bounces up and down. He said yes, that is the overactive in the
muscles, which can be very strong. It’s the control of those
muscles that is the problem.
The TEIS evaluator, a psychologist
with a Ph.D. who evaluates all of the motor skills and so forth
of children in TN who are suspected to have delays, etc., came
out yesterday to spend some time with Shane (she spent a couple
of hours), told me that she believes with his PT, he will be
just fine. When I told her my concern about CP, she said she
doesn’t see symptoms of that at all with Shane, so I find that
very encouraging. He is even kind of pulling up on his knees
now when he’s doing his crawling/scooting, so she found that as
a good sign, too. I felt a lot better after her visit
yesterday.
What is going to happen is that he
is going for a first visit of Physical Therapy on Friday and he
will see the Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. Paul Knowles next
Monday. He will go back to see Dr. Wood on Tuesday, so we will
be busy with visits for awhile. My guess, from comments by the
TEIS evaluator, is that he will do one or two sessions of PT a
week, probably about 30 minutes at a time, because of his age.
She feels that this PT will make all the difference in the world
and that he will be just fine, so hopefully he just has a VERY
mild case of this. Again, my guess is that he will have quite a
few PT visits, which in my opinion, the more the better. He’s
going to get all the help he needs and we have the best team of
doctors down here at TC Thompson Children’s Hospital, which is
where the Pediatric Neurologist and the PT is. Please pray for
this situation.
APRIL 15TH
HUGH PRINCE
Hughie
Prince
is
suffering from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Stage 4 Leukemia. After
recent tests, the doctors have found that the cancer is also in
the bone marrow. He was to start treatment on May 3rd.
Please pray for him and his family for strength and peace
during this time.
APRIL 12TH
BONNIE McLELLAN
Bonnie
McLellan, sister of Billie Jean GIllis, was to go in
the hospital on Friday morning April 14th for exploratory
surgery and to repair several hernias. The doctor is not sure
what to expect so please pray that it will not be too serious.
APRIL 4TH
OLIVE BOZEMAN
UPDATE:
Mrs. Bozeman is doing much better and able to stay at
home by herself. Thanks for your continued prayers on her
behalf.
Olive Bozeman, Mother of Beverly Clowdus, was in the
hospital last week suffering from Pneumonia in one lung and
some erratic blood pressure readings. She also has osteoporosis
and severe, painful arthritis for years on top of all this. She
was able to come home from the hospital on Monday, but will need
Beverly to stay with her at night until she is stronger.
As this is difficult for the whole family, please remember them
in your prayers and for Mrs. Bozeman's complete recovery.
FEBRUARY 25TH
RUTH BAILEY
UPDATE: Ruth is doing much better. Thanks to all for
their continued prayers.
I went
to see an Orthopedic Doctor last week about the pain I have been
experiencing in my neck, back and shoulder. The doctor tells me
I have a narrowing of the space between the 4th and 5th disk in
my neck, and have Degenerative Disc Disease between the 5 & 6
disk. The latter is causing the severe pain under my right
shoulder blade. Most of my pain is muscular. He prescribed
physical therapy, and medication--anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxer, and painkiller. We will try this for six weeks. I saw
my x-rays and the space between the 5th & 6th disk is very
narrow.
Thanks
for all your prayers, and continue to pray.
TONY
COOTS
UPDATE FROM
JIM AND SHELBA LICHTENSTEIN:
Thank you for your prayers and concern for my son-in-law, Tony
Coots after his recent heart attack. The doctors decided to do
bypass surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center
and not the transplant, which was the first thought. All
went well with his surgery. They were able to bypass four
arteries and not three that they had originally thought.
It is a
serious situation as much of his heart had sustained injury from
an earlier heart attack two years ago. Tony is only forty.
Your continued prayers for his recovery are appreciated.
FEBRUARY 13TH
CORA DOSS
Cora Doss, who
has been in Erlanger Hospital since February 8th with an
intestinal obstruction, should be coming home today. The
mass that was causing the obstruction passed through on Sunday
and she is doing much better. Blood work for cancer cells
showed a slight elevation and she is to follow up with this with
her doctor. Thanks to everyone for their prayers on her
behalf. Continue to pray that any further tests will come back
ok.
JANUARY 25TH
RYAN LEIBY
UPDATE:
Ryan's surgery went well. Please continue to pray for his
complete healing and recovery.
Surgery is
scheduled tomorrow 1/26 (Thursday) morning for Ryan's leg.
Right now the greatest concern is that the procedure goes
routine and no complications result from the anesthesia and
all the risks involved in this type of surgery. Please join
us in praying for Ryan's complete recovery and best possible
scenario to follow.
RON MOREAU

Moreau, Nancy's husband, is scheduled for colon surgery on
Friday, January 27th. Please pray for the surgery
and for his complete healing and recovery.

ZADA NOOTEBOOM
FROM
CASIE LEIBY: My
mother, Zada Nooteboom, went to her rest just before
midnight on Friday, January 6, 2006, just 5 days before her
54th birthday. Her battle with cancer lasted almost 3 1/2
years. These last few months have been full of great pain
and suffering. But her battle is now over and she is at
rest.
I wanted to
thank all of you for your prayers, cards and emails of
concern and encouragement. It goes a long way to know that
people really do care.
My father,
Pete Nooteboom, is handling his loss as best he can. If you
would like to send him notes or cards, his contact info is:

MARTY ROYER
UPDATE FROM BILL ROYER-
JANUARY 11TH: Marty
is feeling much better and gaining energy and her
strength back. Of course she has a way to go yet. The doctor
increased her Coumadin dosage
on Monday and she will see her heart specialist this week.
She has
had calls from friends and relatives located in several
states as well as local calls and the get well cards continue
to roll in every day.
Marty wants to thank everyone for their concern
and prayers for her. She is not out of the woods yet, but is
much better than last week.
FROM IVA
BETCHER:
Your prayers are requested for Marty Royer, my friend who
has visited here many times with her husband. She is in
the hospital with Congestive Heart Failure and a Leaking Heart
Valve. The doctors have given her medicine to stabilize her and
will monitor her condition and expect her to recover.
Please pray for her complete recovery and also pray for her
husband as well.
JANUARY 2ND
LINDA FORD
FROM MARY BETH BRADFORD:
As most of you know,
my sister Linda Ford has been fighting ovarian cancer for
the past three years. Despite several rounds of chemotherapy,
it was discovered recently to have spread to her liver. I
received a call from my mother this morning. Linda died
yesterday. Her funeral is scheduled for Friday, January 6th
in Illinois.
Thank you so much for your prayers on her behalf. We are of
course saddened by her death, but grateful to God that her
suffering is over. Please continue to pray for her family. Her
husband's mother died of cancer about a month ago.
Please remember all the families
in your prayers during this difficult time.
DECEMBER 27TH
LAUREN
PENNEY
UPDATE FROM MISSY PENNEY 12/27:
Lauren
came through the surgery great. She was a little sick from the
anesthesia, but after a couple of different medications they got
her settled down and we were able to come home. She is in some
pain. The Doctor said that the tumor had grown just in the
month since he had seen her. It was about 3 inches long and
about the same thick. He said the tumor had grown over her
nerve. They had to raise the nerve and scrape the bone.
Hopefully it will not grow back in this location. He said he
has seen it regrow once. Please keep Lauren in your prayers for
her complete recovery.
As many
of you know, Lauren was diagnosed with Multiple
Osteocondroma (Multiple Bone Tumors). One of her tumors has
grown and become troublesome. The doctors are going to remove
the tumor on Tuesday, December 27th. The procedure
should be on an outpatient basis. Please pray for the surgery
and recovery process.
DECEMBER 9TH
JUANITA
MULLEN
Juanita Mullen is home
from the hospital and doing better. Her pain has subsided and
she is now able to walk some with the aid of a cane. Your
prayers and cards have been much appreciated.
ZADA
NOOTEBOOM
FROM
LYNN LEIBY: As many of you know, Casie's mother, Zada
Nooteboom has been battling ovarian cancer for a couple of
years now. In the last few months the tumors have begun to
really take over around her internal organs. She has been in
and out of the hospital being treated for it.
The
doctors decided this past week that she is beyond their ability
to treat anymore. She is being released to hospice care
tomorrow. Now it is just a matter of time as to how long her
body will tolerate the condition or give up the fight. She is
in a great deal of pain and is passing blood.
Please
pray for Casie's mother and our family. Losing someone is never
easy and it's harder with someone so young. (Zada is 53)
NOVEMBER 14TH
RYAN LEIBY
Here is an
update on Ryan's condition from his dad, Lynn:
The Ryan
Update is not all that good this time. The recent x-ray
last week revealed that the bone is simply not progressing
at all. It is not getting any worse but it is not getting
any better either. It just remains a soft, scar-tissue,
cartilage area with no real solid bone forming at all.
The surgeon
is highly recommending another round of surgery. Although
I've been trying to avoid this for over a year now, it looks
like we're running out of options. There is one other
alternative method of healing I'm trying as a last-ditch
effort to promote the healing. We're giving it another 2
months in hopes that some bone growth will be stimulated.
It's an electromagnetic therapy treatment that the surgeon
had recommended a while back. We're strapping the
electromagnetic unit directly to the leg overnight and then
giving him a bone growth stimulating homeopathic remedy in
the morning.
We're doing
another x-ray on January 23rd and surgery is scheduled for
the next day on the 24th. If the x-ray shows any bone
growth whatsoever, we'll be able to stall the surgery. So
that's what we're praying for right now.
The surgery
will include removing the abnormal bone tissue again and
taking a bone graft from his hip. This will be followed by
placing a device known as an external ring fixator around
his leg which will keep his leg immobilized and apply direct
pressure to the fracture site. This, of course, will
totally immobilize Ryan and have him restricted to a
wheelchair for probably most of the winter.
So that's
where we're at. It's been a frustrating 2 years. But we're
keeping our hopes up and holding fast to the hope that, in
the long run, Ryan will have a strong leg that will have him
hopping and running about like all the other children.
Please keep
Ryan in your prayers. Especially through the next ten weeks
before this final x-ray and the following surgery.
ANNA BELL
TIBBS
Jean Rickard’s mom,
Anna
Bell Tibbs died this past Sunday morning. Basically, her
body just shut down from old age. She had been taken to the
hospital with breathing problems and died peacefully. She
had been going downhill for quite some time; her passing was
expected, but still a shock to the family when it actually
happened.
Jean has driven up to
Bowling Green, KY to help make the funeral arrangement. All
the family will be in Bowling Green on Tuesday for the
family viewing at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral will be on
Wednesday.
Please remember the
Rickard family in your prayers.
NOVEMBER 12TH
JANIE SHANNON
Mrs. Shannon
fell in her house last week and is very sore. Please pray for
her healing and relief from the pain. Mr. Shannon is to have
another chemotherapy treatment on November 29th. His last PSA
count was down to around 37. Continue to pray for good results.
WILLIE
BLAYLOCK
Many will
remember Willie Blaylock who attended with us years ago. Mr.
Blaylock died November 11th and his funeral was conducted by Mr.
Bill Cowan on November 13th. Please remember his family,
especially his son and daughter during this difficult time.
NOVEMBER 8TH
DAN COHRAN
UPDATE:
Dan was able to come home on Friday, November 11th. He wanted to
thank everyone for their concern and prayers. He said that
without God’s intervention he would not be here. Please keep Dan
in your prayers for his complete recovery.
Dan Cohran, brother-in-law of Bill
Doss had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital in
Pensacola, Florida on November 9th. The medication they gave him
in the ambulance to open the blockage, caused some plaque that
had broken loose in his artery to create a “clot“. That was
dissolved. Then later that evening he had two stints put in an
artery that was 99% blocked. They feel that this was the only
blockage and there is no more damage. He should be able to come
home on Friday. Please continue to pray for him.

Please pray for her complete healing and quick recovery.
SEPTEMBER
13TH
CHARLES
SHANNON
UPDATE:
Mr. Shannon had another chemo treatment on September
27th and is experiencing weakness, headaches and nausea. Even
though he is showing improvements, his doctor want him to finish
all the treatments. He still has three more to go. Keep praying
for his healing.
Mr. Shannon had
some good news today that he wanted to share with everyone. He
just got a call about his PSA count. The numbers had dropped
from 161.4 to 61.4. A one hundred point drop! He and Mrs.
Shannon are very excited and thankful about this news.
Hopefully, this means he may only need one more chemotherapy
treatment instead of four. His next treatment is September
27th. Please continue to pray for his steady improvement. His
white blood cell count was a little high, but not too bad. He
had been feeling bad since his last treatment on the 6th, but
today is feeling a lot better. Thanks to God for his mercy.
AUGUST 28TH
ROCKY RAMSEY
Rocky had
quadruple by-pass surgery on Friday, August 26th; there were
some complications and the doctors had to open him back up and
wash out the blood clots, but couldn't fine the leak. They
think the leak healed itself. He is better and is in Surgical
ICU at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He had cataract
surgery I think, the previous week. Please pray for both Rocky
and Duchess, as she has great difficulty getting up the steps to
get back into their house.
AUGUST 27TH
LUCILLE AUTRY
Lucille Autry,
sister of Charles Shannon, died on Saturday, August 27th , after
a long illness. Visitation will be Monday, August 29th at 2:00
pm and the funeral service will be Tuesday, August 30th at 2:00
pm at the Lafayette Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, Lafayette,

during their time of loss.
AUGUST 20TH

UPDATE: Mr. Shannon has been sick
for the last week as a result of the chemo treatments. He is
also having problems with his white blood cell count. Please
keep praying.
Mr. Shannon
had his first chemo treatment on Tuesday and is doing
pretty well. His stomach is sore and he has been experiencing a
headache and feeling generally rough the last couple of days.
He is supposed to go for another PSA test on Tuesday the 23rd
and his next chemo treatment is 9/6/05. The results of the PSA
test will determine how many chemo treatments he will have to
take. His last test numbers were around 160 which is not good.
Please keep praying for good results and his healing
